Judith Slentz is a college trained artist having worked in several mediums. Fabric is her first
love with the sewing of garments since she was nine years old. Judith does not seek awards in quilt shows
prefering only to seek to please the new owner of her creation. Her life is driven by love of family and commitment
to others.
Judith retired early after a successful career in Elementary teaching. She retired
to travel internationally with her husband and to coordinate her mother's care as she lived with Alzheimer's. Returning
to an art related career was a return to a first love. Coming to Arizona from southwest Missouri, Judith was charmed
at an early age by all variety of handcrafts. As her life expanded and she explored the options in it, Judith experimented
with painting in oil and, then, in watercolor after the move to Arizona. She has completed projects in traditional
embroidery, gros pointe, and various other traditional needleworks. As a teenager she won many awards for her fashion
sewing in 4-H. Judith will take on almost any project that has a design challenge to it!
Life
now has the challenge of a much older husband with many of the diagnoses of older age. Judith is well grounded in her
love for her husband recognizing she can no longer accept new commissions for large quilting projects. Along
with accepting commissions for smaller quilt, baby and lap, Judith will be pursue quilt project ideas that have lain
dormant for many years while she designed quilts for others.
